About Me:

To truly know me, one must  get close enough to fall in love with me. Otherwise we have not really met and you don’t really know who I am. There is no in between. Either we have met and fallen in love with each other, or we have yet to meet and you can only assume that you know who I am. Consider this your invitation to fall in love. The Short Story of My Existence: 

Born February 22, 1984 in Nashville, but groomed and marinated in Columbia, Tennessee. The proud son of the the late Dr. Reverend Louis Henry and Martha Jewel Gainer-Sykes. A raised Christian in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. A elementary school standout student and acknowledged graduate of the D.A.R.E program. A well known athlete on the football field from pop warner at the age of 8 well into my adult years playing on several Semi Professional Football Teams. A holder of many awards in life, just to name a few; Whitthorne Middle School Inspiration Award, Central High School Most Valuable Defensive Player Award, Wayman Chapel A.M.E Youth of the Month Award, Central High School Graduate with High Honors, 2001 Region 5-4A All Region Honorable Mention Award (Football), 2013 Officer of the Month and Officer of the Year Award for the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office in Nashville, Tennessee, and the latest award that I hold is the 2023 Poetry Honors Award in recognition from Imani Rhema and Soul Food Poetry Café. I’ve been everything from actor on stage to activist in life. I’ve mentored students in elementary school, middle school, and even in college. I was a major part of creating a collective of poets known as Po’Boys and  Poets in Nashville, Tennessee and have now created the playground for all poets to come and play on, known as Poet’s Playground.

I truly understand that this thing called life is about what you leave as a legacy for those that will come behind you. Knowing this gives reason and purpose too ones life. I don’t do this for me, I do it for us. That’s why I know that in order for you to truly know me, you have to love me. Because I only have love for you.
